The future
2100–3100: orbital stations, Mars colonies and cryosleep
The future section of the wheel is the only one we cannot check against fossils or archives. These lives are set somewhere between the years 2100 and 3100, on orbital stations, in a colony on Mars, on mining asteroids and in cryogenic sleep chambers.
The entries are speculation, but grounded speculation: they start from what we already know about living in space from decades of missions to the International Space Station, from research into radiation, low gravity, closed-loop life support and growing food off Earth, and from current proposals for Mars and asteroid missions.
Where a technology does not exist yet, such as reversible human cryosleep, the entry says so and explains what scientists would still need to solve.
